The 2nd National Days of Croatian Tradition Flavors

Starting in Monday, November 15th, the national Days of Croatian Tradition Flavors will begin, jointly organized by 11 county tourist boards in collaboration with local caterers who hold the Flavors of Croatian Tradition standard, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. On this occasion, a press conference was held yesterday in Zagreb at the Potkova restaurant, one of the standard holders.

Food enthusiasts will be able to enjoy local dishes made from traditional ingredients and according to traditional recipes over the next 14 days in 108 catering establishments. Each establishment will offer two three-course menus, with prices starting from 75 kuna per menu, and also available for 95 kuna, 125 kuna, or 195 kuna.

On this occasion, the first national catalog of holders of the "Flavors of Croatian Tradition" standard was presented, providing an overview of 128 establishments and their traditional cuisine specialties from 14 counties.

As Sandra Herman, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, emphasized at the presentation, enogastronomy is an extremely important segment in the development of tourism. This is confirmed by research results and the fact that an increasing percentage of tourists cite food and drink as the main motivation for visiting a destination. She also highlighted the crucial importance of connecting all stakeholders in this project, from producers and family farms to restaurants and ultimately the end consumer, who receives a genuine traditional, authentic local product.

Rujana Bušić Srpak, President of the Project Council, particularly emphasized that the "Flavors of Croatian Tradition" project is a high-quality example of public-private partnership, where tourist boards, together with their members, guide the development of the tourist product, maintain its quality, and use all their resources to achieve a common goal. "The old traditional cuisine is the link between the Croatian field and the Croatian table, and this is what 'Flavors of Croatian Tradition' aims to combine into a rounded, authentic Croatian tourist product, which is Croatian food served in the Croatian way," Bušić Srpak highlighted, inviting everyone to visit the standard-bearing restaurants over the next two weeks and to explore the rich Croatian traditional gastronomy throughout the rest of the year.

Following the event, five restaurants received the "Flavors of Croatian Tradition" designation. As of yesterday, the project now includes the Franz restaurant and Coner Winery from Bjelovar-Bilogora County, the Hungry Bear and Cvituša restaurants from Lika-Senj County, and the Korana Srakovčić Hotel restaurant from Karlovac County.
